As the Dean of Academics at Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj’s, Karmaveer Adv. Baburao Ganpatrao Thakare College of Engineering, Nashik, I am proud to be part of an institution that champions excellence in education and holistic development. Duties:

  1. The Dean of Academics will act in consultation with the Director for the overall academic development of the institute.
  2. Prepare and approve the academic calendars.
  3. Review and approve the time-tables of various departments.
  4. Coordinate with the Director, Deans, Head of Departments, Academic coordinators, and IQAC coordinator for appropriate academic information and activities.
  5. Review the academic process by observing lectures, laboratories, tutorials, verification of records, collecting feedback, student interaction, and faculty interaction.
  6. Recommend new courses or revision of existing courses from time to time.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Director in design, development and implementation of institutional academic philosophy and policies.
  2. Design and suggest the academic calendar for UG and PG programs.
  3. Propose, design and suggest the activities for the improvement in teaching-learning process, academic strategy and systems for implementation.
  4. Support and ensure the standardization of various activities such as students reporting, conduction of classes, laboratories, tutorials, field visits, internships and student projects.
  5. Perform monitoring of academic disciplines such as student reporting, conduction of classes, laboratory, and tutorial sessions.
  6. Monitoring of the execution of the teaching-learning process through review of student attendance, syllabus coverage, continuous assessment through various tests like unit-tests, quizzes, open-book tests, activity-based tests, practicals, internships, seminars/ projects, etc.
  7. Perform the monitoring and assessment of the performance of faculty, supporting staff, and students for the improvement of the academic process.
  8. Ensure the quality of course content and delivery through surprise visits to classes and laboratories.
  9. Check the quality of question papers and perform analysis of student performance in various exams and present it to the Director.
  10. Provides support to organize conferences, seminars, workshops, and faculty development programs for appropriate pedagogy and innovative teaching-learning methodologies.
  11. Any other academic work assigned by the Director.
