Activities and Achievements
Sustainable Energy Project at Matori
Implemented an Off-Grid Solar Power System at Janata Vidyalaya in Matori, providing uninterrupted power for classrooms during frequent load-shedding. The project reduced operational costs, improved the learning environment, and demonstrated the effectiveness of renewable energy solutions for rural schools. The project is approved by Rural Energy System SEG and funded by the National Coordinating Institute UBA 2.0 (IIT Delhi).
Tree Plantation and Environmental Awareness
Organized a tree plantation drive in Kachurli on October 4, 2024, where 70 trees were planted in collaboration with the Ashramshala. Students were given responsibility for nurturing the trees, fostering environmental stewardship and a sense of ownership. This initiative promoted awareness about the importance of trees in ecological balance and sustainable living.
Water sampling and analysis
The UBA team collected water from different sources and documented the water sampling and analysis process, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the findings. This data served as the basis for creating an insightful report that highlighted the current water quality status and actionable recommendations for the village.
Assessment of Basic Amenities at Kachorli Ashramshala
During the visit to the Ashramshala at Kachorli on 23rd July 2022, the team analyzed the availability of essential amenities, including education, healthcare, and drinking water facilities. Discussions with the institution’s head led to identifying areas for future interventions to enhance the quality of life for students and villagers.
Kachorli Survey
Students visited village “Kachorli” on 8th August 2022 to discuss with the villagers (Tribal) regarding the basic amenities available for them and noted the required information.
Water Management and Environmental Conservation
At Belgaon Dhaga, the UBA team visited to study water management systems, filtration, drainage, tree plantation, and artificial ponds under the “Catch the Rain” initiative on 10th June 2022. These efforts highlighted the potential for water conservation and ecological restoration in rural settings.
Village Surveys
Detailed surveys in adopted villages, Matori, Odha, Belgaon Dhaga, Gangapadali and Lakhalgaon to identify and assess key social, environmental, and infrastructural challenges durind 10-16th January 2020. These surveys formed the foundation for planning targeted interventions and projects.
Awareness Campaigns on Social and Environmental Issues
At Belgaon Dhaga and Matori, the UBA team, organized awareness campaigns on critical issues such as the plastic ban, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and Jalshakti Abhiyan.
On October 4, 2019, a drawing competition was held at Matori School to engage students in promoting environmental conservation and sanitation efforts. Additionally, a discussion with the Sarpanch of Belgaon Dhaga Gram Panchayat highlighted community involvement in these national initiatives, fostering a collective sense of responsibility towards sustainability and cleanliness.
